During the most recent recession, the healthcare industry proved robust in relation to job stability. This was perhaps truest in Florida, where the industry continues to add jobs to this today.

This can be attributed to a variety of factors, including the growing retirement rate of Florida's baby boomers and the expansion of the Affordable Care Act.

To put this in numbers, Florida spent $2.5 trillion dollars on healthcare in 2012 on a population in which 17.6% of the population is 65 years or older. Yet, paradoxically, Florida's healthcare system remains today one of the worst-ranked in the nation, coming in at number forty-eight among all fifty states and Washington D.C. This is made all the more troubling given the fact that climate change, a rising intensity in natural disasters, and estimated increases in air and water pollution affect Floridians now more than ever.

Their Online Executive plan has the same requisites, but allows students to complete all of their coursework online.

Finally, their standard MHA track is a hybrid program which offers students evening and weekend classes, and requires most students to participate in a 15-20 hour a week internship with a health organization located in Southern Florida: this requirement is waived for those students with at least two years of work experience in the field.
