According to a document published by the Urban Institute, some of the cheapest silver plans in the Wyoming exchange- created by the Affordable Care Act in 2010 during the Obama administration- significantly rose, and only Iowa's marketplace silver plan exchange rates experienced a more drastic rise (source).

Some silver plan prices- the plan many non-profit service organizations encourage low-income residents to enroll in- are so high that they are higher than some of the cheaper gold prices.

This comes in response to the announcement that President Donald Trump made in the Fall of 2018 that his administration wouldn't reimburse insurance companies for reductions that they provide to low-income insurees.

With Wyoming only having Blue Cross Blue Shield, one of the major insurers who offered reductions to a number low-income insurees, on its health care exchange, many low-income Wyomingites may be affected in terms of affordable health care access and financial vulnerability from unexpected accidents and inability to receive preventable health services.

These events may be enough to call to action brilliant and aspiring professionals looking to bring about health for the public interest of Wyoming.

One program that can help professionals gain the skills needed to make a significant impact in the health arena is the Master's in Healthcare Administration. Many students in these programs go on to succeed in their future roles.

It is encouraged that prospective administrators explore university options in Wyoming, and surrounding states, that give them the best chance to maximize their potential in this line of work.

University of Wyoming

This is the only university in Wyoming that offers a Masters in Healthcare Administration program. The generally accept mid-career pharmacists or health professionals, and offers these professionals the chance to advance their careers even further.

The school understands that these professionals are incredibly busy, which is why it offers courses mostly online and occasional in-person weekend seminars.

For this program, in-state tuition is $650 per credit hour and $825 per credit hour.

A full course tuition of $1,650 is discounted for active members of any national pharmacy association.

Uniquely, the program doesn't require a thesis but does require a final capstone project, which is designed by the student and their academic advisor.

Also unique to the program is that it uses a virtual classroom program that requires weekly or bi-weekly attendance; they even offer a virtual job fair for current students with information on job openings.

For interested readers, the program requires applicants to have a Bachelor's degree or Master's in any field, or a doctoral degree with a GPA of 3.0 or better, although applicants with a GPA lower than 3.0 will also be considered based on a number of different factors.

Following data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field of managerial health is projected to grow at an astronomical twenty percent throughout 2024: this means that qualified, well-educated health professionals in the field are expected to be in ever-higher demand as the health industry grows and evolves.

And according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in Wyoming, as of 2017, only 700 people were employed in managerial health positions, with an annual mean salary of $100,630.
